1475 Cadets throw Christmas concert to help the RAF family
| News - Members' News |
The cadets of 1475 (Dulwich) Squadron, Air Training Corps, will hold a special Christmas concert on 10 December at St Clement Danes Church, Strand, London at 7.30 pm. The fifth “Jack Lane DFC Memorial Christmas Concert”, will raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, and will feature the internationally renowned Ann-Louise Straker and friends with the Croydon Male Voice Choir.
The last concert in 2007 raised over £6000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, making an important contribution to the charity’s work supporting members of the RAF Family in need. 1475 Squadron has a long history of supporting the charity, and was honored for its support in 2007 when it was presented with the RAF Benevolent Fund Poignard, the first cadet unit to receive the honour.
The Commanding Officer of 1475 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Kevin Mehmet thinks it is vital that proceeds from the event go back into the RAF family through the RAFBF.
He said:
“It is our great pleasure to hold this special concert in memory of our patron, Jack Lane DFC, and to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund at the same time, which is a cause very close to our hearts. We teach our cadets that they are part of a family and this concert is an important chance for them to give something to members of that family who find themselves in need. It’s through the work of the RAF Benevolent Fund that we can fully appreciate the sacrifices the men and women of the RAF have made to protect and maintain the freedoms we enjoy today.”
Tickets, priced at £10 each, are available by post or in person from the Verger at St Clement Danes Church. Visit www.1475.org for more information.
