Two Coventry Air Cadet Squadrons braved the heat on June 26 to mark the second National Armed Forces Day celebrations by parading through the city and attending the Service at Coventry Cathedral.
The Squadron Banners from both 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) and 8F (first city of Coventry) Squadron’s joined the ranks of Standards representing ex-service organisations and serving members of the Armed Forces. Flight Sergeant Brandon Wood marched with the Squadron banner from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron.
The cadets marched in the parade as onlookers stood in doorways and at the roadside to pay their respects to our servicemen past and present.
The service involved members of the Armed Forces and readings from ex servicemen and members of all three Cadet Forces, Flight Sergeant Richard Hulm from 8F Squadron who is Coventry’s Lord Mayor Cadet represented the Air Cadets.
Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 Squadron said: “It was very pleasing to see cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron and 8F Squadron join the parade to celebrate the achievements of members of our armed forces both past and present. It is important for the cadets to recognise the importance of our servicemen and the sacrifices they make in the name of freedom, both over the past conflicts as well as current operations.”
