On a cold but bright New Years Day, 19 cadets and their adult volunteer, Sgt Dan Goldman of 241 (Woodford and Wanstead) Squadron participated in the London New Years Day Parade as part of The London Borough of Redbridge’s contingent

The Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Chan decided that the theme of the Borough would be "YOU" - Youth Organisations in Uniform, and invited the Squadron, together with Police Cadets, Scouts and other groups to participate, along with other groups including musicians.

The parade marches through the streets of Central London passing landmarks such as the Palace of Westminster, Trafalgar Square and London’s Ritz Hotel on Piccadilly, and always has a large contingent of American High School Marching Bands. The 241 Cadets provided a marching contingent which along with the Squadron Banner paraded past the reviewing stand in front of an excited and jolly crowd.

The Commanding Officer of  241, Sqn Ldr Godden stated "This was an excellent turnout on a day when most people are usually tucked up in bed until lunchtime. The Cadets and Sgt Goldman did an excellent job of representing the Air Cadet Organisation on an international stage, as well have having fun with the other participants and the spectators".

The link below shows in the first part of the video, the Woodford and Wanstead cadets on the marchpast.
